Private label socks are one of the fastest ways for a brand to build a differentiated product line without investing in factories. Instead of selling generic wholesale socks, you sell socks made to your design, carrying your labels and packaging: products your competitors cannot simply reorder from the same catalog. Pakistan’s hosiery sector is well set up for this kind of work, and a sourcing company can manage the entire development cycle for you. This guide explains what private label really means, what you can customize, how the process works, and what it costs in time and volume.

What Does “Private Label” Mean for Socks?

Private label means the product is manufactured to your specification and sold under your brand. You own the design, the branding, and the packaging; the factory, coordinated through your sourcing company, provides the production capacity. This differs from white label, where you put your logo on an existing generic product. True private label starts from your tech pack or reference sample and ends with socks that exist nowhere else.

What You Can Customize

Knit design

From classic ribbed and plain knits to jacquard patterns, stripes, logos knitted into the leg, and mesh ventilation zones, modern hosiery machines handle remarkable detail. Your sourcing company translates artwork into machine-ready knit programs and advises what is technically feasible at your target price.

Yarns and colors

Cotton, combed cotton, polyester, nylon, and spandex blends can be combined for hand feel, durability, and performance. Colors are dyed to match your Pantone references, with lab dips approved before bulk dyeing begins.

Woven labels and branding

Your woven main label, size label, and care label are produced to your artwork and sewn or heat-transferred per your specification: the detail customers see every time they wear the product.

Header cards and box packaging

Retail-ready presentation matters. Custom header cards, belly bands, hang tags, and gift boxes are developed alongside the socks so the finished product arrives shelf-ready.

The Private Label Process, Step by Step

1. Tech pack or reference sample

Everything starts with your specification: artwork, measurements, yarn and color references, labeling, and packaging details. No tech pack? A physical reference sample works too. Your sourcing company reverse-engineers it into a production spec.

2. Sampling

The factory knits pre-production samples for your review. Expect to check fit, feel, colors, and branding closely. Most programs need one or two rounds of counter-samples before sign-off.

3. Approval

You formally approve the final sample, locking design, measurements, colors, and packaging. This approved sample becomes the benchmark for bulk quality control.

4. Bulk production

Yarn is dyed, knitting runs, socks are boarded and finished, and labels and packaging are applied. Your sourcing company monitors progress and inspects before shipment.

Understanding the MOQ: 5,000 Dozen

Private label production is organized around minimum order quantities. For socks, a standard sourcing-company MOQ is 5,000 dozen per program. That reflects real economics: machine setup time and yarn dyeing run in economical lots, and spreading setup cost over a proper volume keeps your unit price competitive. Within an MOQ, colors and sizes can usually be mixed within agreed limits, confirmed at quotation.

Typical Timelines

Plan on 7 to 10 days for initial samples, plus shipping time for physical approval, and roughly 2 to 3 weeks for bulk production after sample approval, depending on volume and season. Packaging development can run in parallel. Build buffer into your calendar: approving samples quickly is the single biggest lever on your launch date.
